Our DT Curriculum Intent

 • To develop pupils as purposeful designers: We aim to inspire children to view themselves as designers, creating items that serve a specific purpose and meet real-world needs, encouraging them to see the impact of design in daily life.

• To create meaningful and functional products: Our curriculum emphasises the importance of producing work that is both meaningful and functional, fostering a sense of accomplishment and pride in their creations.

To build confidence in using diverse tools and techniques:  We equip pupils with a wide range of skills, encouraging them to confidently use various tools, materials, and techniques to bring their designs to life.

• To foster imagination in design and creation: Creativity and imagination are central to our curriculum, allowing children to explore their ideas freely and express their individual creativity through hands-on projects.

• To encourage risk-taking and innovation: We cultivate a safe environment for pupils to take risks, experiment, and learn from mistakes, empowering them to be innovative thinkers and resilient problem solvers.
