Religious Education
Our RE Curriculum Intent
• To foster a strong sense of identity and belonging: We aim to support pupils in exploring their own beliefs and values, cultivating a sense of self while understanding their place within a diverse, interconnected world.
• To learn about and learn from diverse religions and beliefs: Our curriculum encourages pupils to explore a range of world religions, beliefs, and practices, promoting both knowledge and reflection on how these perspectives can inform their own lives.
• To encourage respectful dialogue and discussion: We provide a safe space for pupils to engage in meaningful discussions about different faiths, encouraging respectful listening, questioning, and an openness to diverse perspectives.
• To promote positive participation in a multicultural society: We prepare pupils to contribute thoughtfully and respectfully within a society enriched by diverse religions and world views, fostering inclusivity and cultural awareness.
• To respect and understand others’ beliefs and traditions: Our curriculum emphasises empathy and respect, helping pupils to appreciate and honour the beliefs, values, and practices of others, building a foundation for mutual understanding.
• To cultivate deeper thinking and reasoning: Through inquiry and reflection, we encourage pupils to engage in critical thinking, allowing them to explore complex questions, form reasoned perspectives, and develop an insightful approach to life’s big questions.
This intent ensures that Religious Education nurtures informed, open-minded, and reflective individuals who can appreciate and contribute to a diverse society with empathy and understanding.
